City of Allentown

LCA’s wastewater system in the City of Allentown is the “central hub” of the regional system that provides wastewater collection service to municipalities in western Lehigh County. The Kline’s Island Wastewater Treatment Plant provides treatment services for more than 150,000 people throughout Lehigh County, treating about 32 million gallons of wastewater each day. Wastewater is treated to the highest possible environmental standards, with treated water discharged to the Little Lehigh Creek, immediately before its confluence with the Lehigh River.

In Allentown, we provide direct sewer service to more than 33,000 residential and commercial properties, as well as municipal treatment services to many more communities throughout Lehigh County. Municipalities connected to this regional network include:

Borough of Emmaus
Borough of Macungie
Hanover Township
Lower Macungie Township
Lowhill Township
North Whitehall Township
Salisbury Township
South Whitehall Township
Upper Macungie Township
Upper Milford Township*
Weisenberg Township*
Whitehall Township

In most cases,* we charge the municipalities for their connection with our interceptor system, and the municipalities run their own sewer network. Municipalities own and operate their own sewer systems and send bills to residents and businesses according to their own municipal rate structures.

* In Upper Milford and Weisenberg townships, LCA is the designated wastewater service provider. In these townships, we own and operated the sewer network and send bills directly to the residential and commercial customers that are connected to our system.
